Each project is shaped by how an interior is used in real life, from guest experience to everyday living.

We focus on creating spaces that are not only visually refined, but also easy to use, maintain, and operate over time.

In guest accommodation, thoughtful design decisions can directly influence guest experience, daily operation, and the overall potential of a property.

about us

Apartment Theory is a hospitality-driven interior design studio based in Vienna, specialising in guest accommodation and private homes. We create complete, ready-to-use interiors, staying closely involved from the first ideas to the final setup.

Our work is guided by a simple belief: every design decision should have a purpose. It should make a space easier to use, easier to maintain, and more enjoyable to spend time in. We have learned that great interiors are not defined by first impressions alone, but by how well they continue to work long after they are finished.

That way of thinking has been shaped by years in hospitality, where we experienced every stage of a property’s journey: welcoming guests, managing daily operations, redesigning and operating a motel, creating and running our own guest accommodation, and delivering numerous short-term rental projects. Hospitality taught us that a beautiful interior is only the beginning. Its real value lies in how well it supports the people who use it long after the design is finished.

Alongside our hospitality background, we both studied interior design, building the design foundation that shapes every project we take on. Our understanding of construction processes, materials, and the wider project journey helps us design with confidence and collaborate smoothly from the moment our work begins. By the time a renovation is complete, our role is just beginning, shaping the layout, selecting furnishings, styling each space, and refining the details that turn a finished property into a complete interior. We don’t just offer solutions; we see them through.

Today, we help property owners, managers, and private clients create interiors that combine design, functionality, and long-term value. We are drawn to spaces that feel calm, intuitive, and balanced, where everything has its place and purpose.

We are Anna Gaál and Bálint Mező, the founders of Apartment Theory.
